About Marek
Marek Wencel is a professional photographer-adventurer with unparallel passion for new adventure in remote locations of the world. Marek's images are a by-product of his experiences in the mountains of the world as well as close contacts with native people of the regions he traveled. Born in Poland, he moved to Germany and then on to the United States. He is fluent in Polish, German and English and has good command of conversational Japanese. Marek is currently based in Seattle Washington. In 2006 his images won Nikon Magazine’s “Nikon Publish your Passion Contest” and one of his images was a Runner Up in 2nd edition of “Action Photo Contest” run by National Geographic Adventure Magazine. So far his adventures have taken him to the mountains of Alaska, Polish Tatras, Peru's Cordillera Blanca, Argentina's Andes as well as on several expeditions in the Himalayas - mainly Nepal and Tibet. His latest achievement was to summit Mt, Shishapangma in Tibet, at 26, 250ft/8,024m, the 14th highest mountain in the world.
